Mo Haque writes

I began Evolutionary ‘Rebirthing’ Breathwork for the first time in March 2016, a time when my terminal cancer was growing and spreading, a time when the NHS decided against funding a breakthrough immunotherapy treatment for me.

Fundraising a total of £200,000 was a daunting prospect, yet it was my last resort to give myself a chance to live. With help from family, friends and strangers, we raised close to £190,000 allowing me to have a year of immunotherapy treatment. My tumours have subsequently reduced and 6 months on from stopping the treatment (May 2017), the tumours have been stable thankfully.

David Parker’s UrbanLIFECLASS breathwork groups have been an integral part of the process for me. I have been attending every single month which allows me to explore themes that I have been suppressing over the years, whilst learning and integrating new behaviours. Behaviours such as asking for help, receiving help, saying no, establishing and maintaining boundaries.

The sessions also allow me to make sense and feel the emotion from my most recent struggles and release any build up, as and when they occur. They also allow me to acknowledge my successes and encourage me to remember to do things I enjoy even if that means ‘doing nothing’, rather to purely just be. But perhaps more crucial is the learning that I get from hearing other peoples shares.

With individual work with David, I have also found that my creativity has flourished and opportunities continue to open up, since attending regular sessions, like writing my book; Choosing To Stay: How Cancer Gave Me My Life Back, published in the forthcoming year 2018.

I have spoken in Parliament, been on TV several times and being invited to speak on various stages to share my story. I have also been getting involved with different cancer communities and charities contributing to publications, policy documents as well as attending Government meetings.

I continue to take one day at a time, whilst holding an intention to serve and share. The breathwork is a reminder to stay present and live in the moment whilst being mindful of the 4 P’s of destruction; Procrastination, Perfectionism, Projection and People-pleasing.

Breathwork practice has become a staple part of my monthly self care.

Yes, you read that RIGHT. Over £250,000 between them. ( 307,384.99 USD ).

Simon McDermott ( above ) and Mo Haque ( below ) have hit global headlines around their respective ventures, one was planned to save his life – the other went ballistic! Mo came to group in the middle of a health crisis, as the NHS would not fund a new cancer drug costing £200,000, so with the help of his friends set up a JUST GIVING page.

Mo writes :  “The most recent Evolutionary ‘Rebirthing’ Breathwork group session I attended included a discussion with the theme ‘ASKING FOR HELP’. Particularly pertinent for me in the context that I had the week before launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise £200,000 for a cancer treatment unavailable on the NHS. A campaign whereby I am required to ask for an abundance of help. The discussion was most beneficial, as I began questioning reasons for me not asking for help over the years. Ego and pride came to mind.

Diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer 18 months ago, I have exhausted all standard NHS treatment. 18 cycles of chemotherapy and one major operation. I even tried a phase 1 trial drug, the 24th person in the UK to be given these tablets. My cancer however continues to grow. Due to the genetic nature of my cancer Lynch Syndrome/mis match repair/ RAS mutation, THERE IS HOPE”.

I have experienced 8 rebirthing sessions to date this year, and each time the feeling I get is one of pureness. After a breathe it feels like my insides have been cleansed, this emotional detox is needed right now, to manage my mental, spiritual and physical condition.”

To date Mo has raised over £130,000 through ACTION required promoting his cause, travelling to mosques, Bangladeshi UK functions, TV studios and The Houses Of Parliament. His treatment has started and here are THE AMAZING RESULTS  : 14433142_571528853027766_867746530658013829_n

Mo’s story also went viral on global social media. Urban LIFECLASS backs #TeamMo    http://teammo.co.uk

Simon, a regular group member, ( and we only have a pool of 25 people for 15 places each month ) shared that he wanted to raise £1,000 for the UK Alzheimer’s Society in thanks for the way they had helped him deal with his Dad Ted McDermott. IT WENT VIRAL & the rest is History, Simon has raised over £130,000 – making Simon & Mo DOUBLE WINNERS!

Si says : “I joined David’s Breathwork group in December last year. I was going through a difficult time due to a number of personal issues. Breathwork was completely new to me. I knew David did Breathwork Groups for years but if I am honest I was completely skeptical about it – however, my views on it have turned full circle.
Without wanting to sound a cheesefest, I find breathwork has been useful in helping me reconnect with myself in new ways, helping me reformulate my sense of self and clear out negative thoughts that we sometimes put upon ourselves.

My confidence has increased ten-fold and I have needed it to deal with media and public response to THE SONG A MINUTE MAN Campaign and Dad’s Record Deal. Above all else, it can actually be quite fun. Post-breathwork group discussions are insightful and often quite a laugh. The best thing I’ve done.”

Asking For Help!

From Mo Haque and David ParkerIMG_4446

Mo Haque, an Urban LIFECLASS regular needs to PUT A SHOUT OUT!

MH – The most recent Evolutionary ‘Rebirthing’ Breathwork group session I attended included a discussion with the theme ‘ASKING FOR HELP’.

My situation right now is critical. Due to the genetic nature of my cancer Lynch Syndrome/mis match repair/ RAS mutation, THERE IS HOPE”.

images-1I have experienced 4 rebirthing sessions to date this year, and each time the feeling I get is one of pureness. After a breathe it feels like my insides have been cleansed, there is a softness within each organ of my body, as if I am breathing for the first time without the polluted air. This emotional detox is needed right now, to manage my mental, spiritual and physical condition.

DP – I’ve known Mo since he was 15, working in the local newsagent, he is now 33 and over the years developed an interest in personal growth, spirituality, relationship awareness and Deepak Chopra. We would often bump into each other in the street, giving me updates on personal development seminars he was taking. Then this year he re-found me, this time on the internet, discovering I had stopped travelling and started doing London Groupwork again, involving Rebirthing Breathwork and Coaching, so he came along. He also brought me and the group up to date on his Health Crisis, as he explains below.

MH – We hear about breakthrough cancer drugs almost every other day on the news, and in my case an immunotherapy treatment offers over 70% response rate for the specifics of my cancer. This treatment is unavailable on the NHS and extremely expensive. Each dosage being approximately £10,000 with a dose required every 3 weeks, easily close to £200,000 for a years treatment. As such the only way for me to pay for it is to crowd fund and ask for help.

But with my pride and ego in the way, the task is doubly difficult.

IMG_9376The shifts that took place following the rebirth group breathing and discussion were quite profound. Thoughts around my self worth and being deserving of help unconditionally, became pre-eminent.

Do I allow my ego and pride get in the way of my health? I accepted that I am a child of the universe. I am connected to everyone else. I am by default naturally deserving of the life force that surrounds and connects us all. I then resolved to embrace the love and support already around me and put myself out there and ASK FOR MORE OF IT.

All I can do each day is my best. Acknowledging that my best today might not be the same level tomorrow, and all I can ask from my friends, family, and those I don’t know, is to help in whatever form they can.

A friend suggested I should set up a crowdfunding page, so I did, having no expectations as to what would happen. What I learnt from group is that asking for help isn’t as painful as I had imagined and now I have gone beyond just the crowd funding page asking for donations in private Facebook groups, telling my story in mosques, and asking for help within the commercial medical community.

images-1IN JUST 2 WEEKS THE RESULT HAS BEEN  PHENOMENAL bringing in a total of £30,000 ( crowdfunding and other donations ) which means I can start the treatment as early as June but I still need continued funding to complete a years treatment. So my practice of asking for help continues”.

DP – So there you are – If you can contribute something to Mo’s link below (the majority of contributions are between £5 and £20) which means a lot of people are behind him to beat the condition within his body that he is determined to overcome. #TOGETHERweWIN – PLEASE HELP in posting on all avenues of social media this page and links below. Many Thanks. Mo & David #BREATHE #GRATITUDE
